The United States of America has decided to discharge two of it’s
high risk criminals at the Guantanamo prisons and they had no other
place to send them to than Ghana.
According to the Ghana Foreign Minister in an interview on Citi
FM, Atef and Al-Dhuby are unable to return to Yemen at the moment and
that the Ghana government has agreed to accept them for a period of two
years after which they may leave the country. Government says the US
government will bear the full cost of the upkeep of the men in Ghana.
Most Ghanaians are infuriated by the decision and have questioned the
government as to why they decided to go for such a deal. Nobody has
boldly come out to reveal the motivation behind the decision to accept
this deal to transfer two of the highest criminals into Ghana.
The Deputy Information Minister, Felix Kwakye also came out to say
that there was absolutely no deal or any monetary agreement between
Ghana and the United States, but Fox News says otherwise.
In an interview with Fox’s Camp Justice Chief Correspondent,
Catherine Herridge, she said Ghana had a deal with the U.S. Government
to accept the detainees.
In her interview, she clearly stated that these two detainees
attended an alpha route training in Afghanistan and added that the place
is not a place for boy scouts. She goes on to elaborate how dangerous
both detainees are and the risk they can impose. One is a follower of
Osama Bin Laden and the other used to train soldiers in Al Qaida.
When asked what the deal was, she said the U.S. Government has
decided to keep that a secret. When queried further by the interviewer
as to why the U.S. Government has decided not to reveal this to
citizens. She said, “That’s because it’s embarassing”.
